In addition to wrinkles or lines, uneven skin tone – dark spots, sun spots and pigmentation can also make the skin look a little old and less vibrant.  This is why skin brightening or lightening products have become popular.

Skin Lightening products are marketed  as breaking down the melanin in the skin that causes pigmentation, freckles and dark spots – pretty serious stuff. MooGoo Lightening Cream starts as our all natural moisturiser. We then stir through three of the best natural lightening ingredients in their full concentration.  The ingredients we wanted for our creams also happen to be among the most expensive but skin lightening is not an area where it is good to go cheap.

The ingredients we chose work gradually. Most of the studies are done over a 3-4 months period. We believe a gradual effect is more healthy and natural than bleaching.

HEALTHY AND EFFECTIVE INGREDIENTS

Three Powerful Natural Lightening Ingredients Blended Through An All Natural Moisturiser:

Alpha Arbutin

One of the most effective and safest lightening ingredients. Originally from the Field Dock plant, research has proven that it has a stronger inhibitory action than that of (beta) arbutin. Though it is a very expensive ingredient to manufacture, even at very low concentrations, a-arbutin has shown to inhibit the activity of Tyrosinase. Alpha Arbutin's inhibitory mechanism is different from that of Arbutin and can be up to 10 times more effective.

Alpha Arbutin is usually derived from the Field Dock Plant. It is purified to increase its effectiveness and arrives to us as a white powder which we can mix through the water in the moisturiser.

Emblica

This ingredient is derived from Indian Gooseberry which is a plant often used in Ayurvedic Medicine. However,  rubbing Indian Gooseberry on the skin won’t do a thing. We use a concentrated standardised extract of Emblica which concentrates the lightening compounds. The studies below found similar effectiveness to Hydroquinone. The beauty of this ingredient however is that, unlike Hydroquinone (which is banned in Europe), Emblica is edible and non-irritating, and so very healthy for the skin. It is also used in some anti-ageing creams (at a lower concentration) as it is an extremely effective anti-oxidant.

Ascobyl Tetraisopalmitate (VC-IP)

One of our favourite ingredients. As most people know, Vitamin C is one of the best anti-oxidants. What most people don’t know however is that Vitamin C is normally water soluble and NOT soluble in oil. So when most forms of Vitamin C are applied to the skin, which is protected by our oil layer, it won’t get in. Ascobyl Tetraisopalmitate is a special form of Vitamin C that is soluble in Oil, so it can mix with the oil on our skin and penetrate through.

Directions

Apply to moist skin after washing the face. Can be applied twice a day. This cream also acts as an all natural moisturiser. All natural products should be patch tested for allergies before use.
